Greg with Tales of the Kingdom authors David and Karen Mains.
We signed an option agreement with the Mains family last month to turn the beloved fantasy fairytale Tales of the Kingdom books into an animated series.
Next steps
Step #1 - Engage a screenwriter
Our writing team has already been mapping out the stories for adaptation to animation. Next we will add a screenwriter to the team to turn our outlines and treatments into scripts.
Step #2 - Create concept art for the world and characters
There are both technology and artistic choices at this stage. We are planning on 2D animation with some 3D elements.
"As a child, this book opened my eyes and made me dream. As an adult, it brought tears to my eyes as I remembered all those great joys and lessons I forgot.." – Amazon review of the books
Step #3 - Produce an animatic for episode one.
An animatic is a picture presentation of the first episode using storyboard drawings, temporary voice actors and music.
Step #4 - Produce a pitch reel
The pitch reel is a 30-60 second fully-animated segment of the story.
Step #5 - Spread the Vision!
We will use those pitch materials to secure funding and distribution for a 12 episode first season. All of that initial work will form the foundation for the production of the actual series.
We need to raise $50,000 to get the ball rolling and produce these foundational materials.
We also need to build a network of people who will help us get the word out. To join the Tales team, learn more or donate, click below. All gifts are tax deductible.
